Rakshit Shetty Faces Legal Trouble Over Copyright Violation

FIR Filed Against Rakshit Shetty and Paramvah Studios for Unauthorized Use of Songs in “Bachelor Party”

Actor and filmmaker Rakshit Shetty is facing legal trouble as an FIR has been filed against him and his production company, Paramvah Studios, over allegations of copyright violation.

The complaint, lodged by Naveen Kumar, a partner at MRT Music, accuses Shetty and his team of using the songs “Omme Ninnannu” and “Nyaya Ellide” in their film “Bachelor Party” without proper authorization. This film premiered on Amazon Prime in March 2024.

The issue arose after attempts to resolve the matter through discussions failed. Kumar alleges that these songs, originally from other films, were used in “Bachelor Party” without securing the necessary rights. Rakshit Shetty has yet to publicly respond to these allegations.

This is not the first time Shetty has faced such accusations. Prior to the release of “Kirik Party,” a similar complaint was filed by Lahari Music, claiming that a song in the film plagiarized a tune from a track they owned.

“Bachelor Party,” directed by Abhijit Mahesh and produced by Rakshit Shetty, stars Diganth, Yogi, and Achyuth Kumar, among others. The film, which is described as a comedic take on a chaotic bachelor party, has been compared to the Hollywood hit “The Hangover” but is noted for its more grounded approach.

Kamal Haasan, the film Indian 2 received mixed reviews, which impacted word-of-mouth promotion

The much-anticipated Tamil vigilante action film “Indian 2,” starring Kamal Haasan, witnessed a significant decline in its box office collections after a strong opening. Directed by S. Shankar, the film managed to gross Rs 58.9 crore in its first three days, but the trend suggests a waning audience interest.

Day-by-Day Breakdown
“Indian 2” had an impressive start, earning Rs 25.6 crore on its opening day. However, the collections dropped to Rs 18.2 crore on the second day and further to Rs 15.1 crore on the third day. The cumulative collection for the first weekend stands at Rs 58.9 crore.

Factors Affecting Performance
Several factors have contributed to the decline in collections. Despite the high expectations and star power of Kamal Haasan, the film received mixed reviews, which impacted word-of-mouth promotion. The lengthy runtime of over three hours was also a point of criticism, leading to a trimmed version being released later.

Comparative Performance
“Indian 2” is competing against other major releases and, despite its initial hype, it has struggled to keep up. For instance, Akshay Kumar’s film “Sarfira” outperformed “Indian 2” on its opening weekend. Nevertheless, “Indian 2” is still expected to become the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2024, surpassing the collections of “Maharaja” and “Aranmanai 4”.

Future Prospects
Looking ahead, the performance of “Indian 2” in the coming weeks will be crucial. The film’s ability to sustain its box office earnings will largely depend on its reception in the international markets and the impact of the trimmed runtime version. With the current trajectory, industry analysts are cautiously optimistic about its long-term prospects, given Kamal Haasan‘s enduring popularity and the film’s thematic appeal.

In conclusion, while “Indian 2” has faced a downward trend post its strong opening, it remains a significant player at the box office. The coming days will be telling in terms of whether it can regain momentum and meet the high expectations set by its predecessor.

Lokesh Kanagaraj’s critique of Shankar’s Indian 2 on X sparked widespread criticism.

Director Lokesh Kanagaraj, who previously collaborated with Kamal Haasan on their blockbuster film Vikram, took to X to compliment the actor’s latest flick Indian 2. However, given that the Shankar-directed film has received widespread criticism since its premiere, Lokesh Kanagaraj was chastised for praising it.

When Lokesh Kanagaraj shared the post, many people swamped his comments section. One admirer commented, “How can you offer this review? Loki Naa.” Someone else chuckled: “Looks like someone showed him Indian 1996 again … with Indian 2 title card and credits.” One person said, “We were not ready to wait.”

Another chastised him for appreciating the film’s music, saying, “scintillating background score for the picture really dont make jokes like this again.” An X user commented, “Vikram’s maker promoting Indian 2 is the worst thing I watched today. You may be a Kamal fan, Lokesh, but this is extremely terrible.” Some simply wanted updates on Coolie or sequels to flicks such as Kaithi and Vikram.

Indian 2 is a sequel to Shankar and Kamal Haasan‘s 1996 film, Indian. While the original from the 1990s was a huge success and is today regarded as one of the best films in the director’s career, the sequel failed to live up to critics’ and viewers’ expectations. Siddharth and Rakul Preet Singh also starred, with Kamal reprising his role as Senapathy. The film finished with a promo for Indian 3, featuring Kamal and Kajal Aggarwal.

Bad Newz Song Release: ‘Mere Mehboob Mere Sanam’Ā featuring Vicky Kaushal and Triptii Dimri

0

Vicky Kaushal, Triptii Dimri, and Amy Virk star in Bad Newz. The film reprised Shah Rukh Khan’s classic Duplicate song, Mere Mehboob Mere Sanam.

Vicky Kaushal and Triptii Dimri‘s upcoming love movie Bad Newz has elicited mixed comments for its teaser and music. After gaining praise for the Tauba Tauba tune, the actors faced criticism for the Jaanam song. Fans have once again expressed their dissatisfaction with the replica of the Mere Mehboob Mere Sanam song from Shah Rukh Khan-Juhi Chawla film Duplicate. A number of social media users have condemned the song for spoiling a great tune.

The song begins with a slow-motion love dance between Vicky Kaushal and Triptii Dimri in a beautiful setting. Aside from the fight between Vicky Kaushal and Ammy Virk over attempting to prove themselves, there are moments when they bond with one another. After Triptii Dimri terrifies them with a horror story, the two eventually find up sharing a bed. Fans are unimpressed with the background score when compared to the original and question why they would ruin a classic song.

A admirer wrote, “Another classic song spoiled.” Another admirer added, “Having SRK as a guest in this song would have been the most lovely way to pay tribute. “Because he owns the song.” A user said, “Ruined the song well.” Another user remarked, “Why can’t they make new songs.” A person further commented: “Another old classic song spoiled …stop spoiling old classic song.. specially SRK songs.”

For those unfamiliar, the original song in Duplicate starred Shah Rukh, Juhi, and Sonali Bendre and highlighted their love triangle. In the entertaining track, Shah Rukh dances with Sonali while dreaming of Juhi, whom he loves. Shah Rukh played two roles in the Mahesh Bhatt-directed film. He portrayed a simpleton chef and an underworld Don in the romantic action comedy.

Bad Newz is based on the notion of heteropaternal superfecundation, in which Triptii Dimri‘s character becomes pregnant with both Vicky Kaushal and Ammy Virk‘s offspring. The Anand Tiwari-directed film is a spiritual successor to Good News, which starred Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor, Diljit Dosanjh, and Kiara Advani. Bad Newz is supported by Dharma Productions, Leo Media Collective, and Prime Video India. It is co-produced by Karan Johar, Hiroo Yash Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Amritpal Singh Bindra, and Anand Tiwari.
