Kanguva: The disappointing collection of ‘Kanguva’ opened the eyes of the producers, now they took this big step
Suriya starrer Kanguva hit the big screens on November 14. Before its release, the makers had made big claims about the film. It was said that Kanguva would be the first Rs 1000 crore earning film for Kollywood. However, after hitting the theatres, the film disappointed the audience badly and the constant criticism had a deep impact on its collection.
The film earned very less
The earnings of this film have been continuously declining since the first day. This film of Suriya collapsed on the second day itself with a drop of 60 percent at the ticket window. The film did not do well on the third and fourth day as well. The film collected Rs 9 crore 85 lakh on Saturday and Rs 10.25 crore on Sunday. The film also failed completely in the Monday test. The continuously low earnings have put the producers in worry.
Producers took this big step
To save the film from further damage, the producers have now taken a big step regarding the film. According to media reports, the producers have shortened the duration of the film by 12 minutes. Earlier this film was 154 minutes long (2 hours and 34 minutes), but now it has been cut to make it 142 minutes long (2 hours and 22 minutes).
Will there be any impact on the collection?
According to media reports, the scenes shown in 2024 in the backdrop of Goa have been edited out from the film. It will be interesting to see if this move of the makers has any impact on the box office collection of the film or Kanguva flops badly at the box office.
