Plot of the The Abandoned
A female Police Officer Wu Jie is facing a difficult patch in her personal life. She is a reputed and known Police Officer but she is facing a difficult situation in her personal life. Wu Jie decides to take her own life.
Wu Jie reaches to the shore let herself drowned in the water. But stop herself when finds a female corpse floating on the water. First it seems that it is accident that female had drowned in the water.
Later it is found that a finger and the heart of the body is missing. That indicates it is a cold blooded murder. The female corpse is identified as a migrant worker.
At the same time police get an anonymous call which complicates the case. Wu Jie suspected that whoever abondoned the dead body in the water is not the killer.
Lin You Sheug is a Factory owner. He is in trouble as a female dead body is found in his factory. To avoid unnecessary trouble, he buries the body into the Woods on the mountains.
After some time his girlfriend named Waree wents missing. He files a complaint about the disappearance of her girlfriend. The description of Lin’s girlfriend is same the female corpse found by Wu Jei.
Wu Jei calls Lin to identify the body. And the body is turned out to be of Waree. Now Lin became the prime suspect of the double murder case. But does he killed these girls?
Cast and Crew of The Abandoned
Janine Chang as Wu Jie, Ethan Juan as Lin You Sheng, Sajee Apiwong, Hsueh Shih Ling as Huang Dong Qi and Chen Wei Min as Sheriff are playing key roles in the movie with various other actors in supporting roles.
The Abandoned is directed by Tseng Ying Ting. And the story of the movie co-written by Tseng Ying Ting, Yang Yi Chien, Lin Pin Chun and Hsu Shih Hui.
David Tang and Janine Chang have co-produced the movie under the banner of Renaissance Films et.al production company.
Release Date and OTT Platform
The movie was screened during the London East Asia Film Festival Competition section on October 22, 2022. Later, the movie was premiered at the Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival on November 5, 2023.
The movie is released for online streaming on December 31, 2023 on Netflix.
