Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Ramayana’ Budget of $100 Million Marks a Milestone in Indian Cinema

The much-anticipated Ramayana project helmed by director Nitesh Tiwari has garnered significant attention. After numerous hurdles, the filming of Ramayana has finally commenced, generating heightened excitement among fans. Recent leaks from the film sets have only added to the anticipation surrounding the project.

In a latest development, insiders associated with the film have revealed that Ranbir Kapoor‘s rendition of Ramayana is poised to be the most expensive and ambitious undertaking in Indian cinema history.

That, the makers have allotted a whopping budget of US$100 million for Ramayana: Part 1. A source told Bollywood Hungama on condition of anonymity, “Ramayana is not just a film but an emotion and the makers are leaving no stone unturned to make it a global level film.

The source further added that Namit Malhotra is putting all his global experience into the system to make a spectacularly grand film. “The budget of USD 100 million [Rs 835 crore] is just for Ramayana: Part One. He plans to expand it further as the franchise grows. By doing this the makers want to give the audience a visual treat with Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram.” The source told us further.

It was further told in the same report that Namit Malhotra is the owner of Prime Focus, the company producing this film. Namit wants to make ‘Ramanay’ a visual treat. Seeing which the audience all over the world will be stunned. It will definitely take time to shoot this film. It is said that the post-production of ‘Ramayana Part 1’ will take 600 days. That means around two years. Because Namit Malhotra does not want to leave any stone unturned in making this film a globe level cinema.

At present, ‘Adipurush’ and ‘2.0’ are counted among the most expensive films of Indian cinema. Rs 500 to 600 crores have been spent in making them. But ‘Ramayana Part 1’ seems to be destroying all these records. KGF fame Yash is going to produce ‘Ramayana’ with Namit Malhotra. This was confirmed by both of them themselves in an interview given to Variety. Besides, Yash is also going to play the role of Ravana in this film.

Ranbir Kapoor‘s 2022 release, Brahmastra, was made on a budget of Rs 450 crore. And this film was the most expensive Hindi film of that time. KGF star Yash Gowda will be seen in the role of Ravana and Sai Pallavi will be seen in the role of Sita in Nitesh Tiwari‘s Ramayana. If reports are to be believed, Ranbir also claimed that he became a complete vegetarian during the shooting of this role.
