Maxime is in her forties, free, independent and a private detective. But when the coincidences of her work put her back in touch with an 18 year-old son she hardly knows, one of her investigations suddenly gets out of hand., A rumpled, middle-aged, female private detective is the protagonist of this gentle French comedy. Maxime is not the typical PI; she is however, good at her job. A chain-smoker and a slob, she has not seen her ex-husband and son in ages. She finds romantic interludes with her friend Florence. She soon finds a new love with a man, Jacques, a handsome economist. She has many different cases, but the one that most concerns her involves her ex and an insurance con. As a result of her investigations, she finds herself becoming closer to her estranged, adult son Baptist. Eventually Maxime must decide whether or not she will run away with Jacques or continue to live alone.
