Ass-breaker Dingus Magee is looking for a gold train when he comes upon old acquaintance Hoke Birdsill on stage to San Francisco, and robs him of his money. Hoke goes to the nearby town of Yerkey’s Hole, where Belle Knops is both mayor and bordello-mistress. She appoints Hoke Town Sheriff and tries to get him to stir up the Indians so the soldiers at the nearby fort (the main customers) won’t go to Little Big Horn. Dingus tries to stir up more trouble and get involved with the pale, baby-talking Indian, Anna. The film is a send-up of the oft-repeated phrase “the Code of the West” and exaggerates it and what it stands for into the ridiculousness that it is., Frank Sinatra headlines this ribald western parody. Ol’ Blue Eyes plays the small-taters crook Dingus Macgee who robs a stage, and steals a strong box, only to find himself unable to open it. Meanwhile his bumbling victim hightails it for nearby Yerkey’s Hole where he tells the mayor of the theft. The town leader and owner of a thriving local brothel (thanks to the presences of a fortress) appoints the victim the new deputy. Immediately the deputy rides out for revenge. Meanwhile Dingus dallies with a sex-starved Indian maiden who becomes obsessed with him. The deputy rides up during the tryst and arrests Dingus. Later the girl helps him escape from the pokey. But Dingus’ problems are far from over. See, the maid wants more lovin’, the deputy wants his box back and the local Indians want his scalp for sullying the maiden. Meanwhile the mayor has his own problems when he learns that the soldiers are planning to abandon the fort to go fight at Little Big Horn., Dingus Magee is looking for a gold train when he comes upon old aquaintance Hoke Birdwell in San Francisco and robs him of his money. Hoke is then appointed town sheriff in the town of Yerkey’s Hole. His main objective as town sheriff is to move the Indians on., Frank Sinatra stars as Dirty Dingus Magee, a small-time con man, would-be thief and wanted outlaw. Much to his chagrin, the reward for his capture is too small for anyone to bother chasing him… and he gets stranded in a nowhere town run by the local madam., A parody of the Old West centering on a shoddy outlaw.
