Directed by Ray Enright., Former United States President Ronald Reagan stars with the Dead End Kids as a bare-knuckled urban district attorney who crusades in the defense of a kid who’s been framed for arson and murder in Angels Wash Their Faces., Intending to stop the plans of Joy Ryan (Ann Sheridan) to reform city government, crooked land dealer Alfred Martino (Eduardo Ciannelli) frames Ryan’s brother Gabe (Frankie Thomas) for arson. His pals from reform school decide to go straight, clean up city hall, and prove Gabe innocent of the crime. One of them, Billy Shafter (Billy Halop), becomes honorary boy mayor for a week, and with the help of his friends and Pat Remson (Ronald Reagan) from the district attorney’s office, Billy begins putting the heat on Martino. Note: this is not a sequel to Angels with Dirty Faces, because none of the same characters nor plot elements recur, but it’s definitely a follow-up.
