Alex Polizzi – The Fixer Kettley’s

Alex Polizzi sets out to wage a one woman campaign to save Britain’s family businesses. Many small and medium family-run firms are going to the wall in the current climate, but it’s a sector that’s vital to the British economy. Alex is called in to a family-run furniture store in Yeadon, just outside Leeds. Kettley’s has been run by John Butler for 33 years, but in recent years profits have been down as customer numbers have dwindled. The business has been centred on serving the elderly and infirm, but the old-fashioned stock is a turn off to couples and young families, who outnumber the over 65s in the local area. There are also problems within the family – dad John seems unprepared to relinquish control to any of the younger partners in the business, including his son, David. Will Alex’s years of experience working with her own family help her with the Butlers, and will her interventions make a difference to the fortunes of the flagging furniture store?
