Meher Vij: She gained a lot of popularity from Salman Khan’s ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’
Meher Vij is a well-known actress of Hindi films. She has played many great roles in her career. However, she gained a lot of popularity from Salman Khan‘s ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ released in the year 2015. In this film, she played the role of Harshali Malhotra’s mother who appeared in the role of Munni. After this, she started getting many roles of mother. Now recently, the actress has talked about being typecast in the role of a mother.
Typecast for mother’s roles
After ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, actress Meher Vij also played the role of a mother in Aamir Khan‘s Secret Superstar. After this, she was typecast as a mother. Meher said that she does not want to see women in weak roles. In a recent interview to NDTV, she said that after Secret Superstar, she got many offers for mother’s roles. Referring to this, she said that she never got the kind of role that she wanted to play in films.
Don’t want to see women in weak roles
Elaborating on this, Meher said that she doesn’t want to be a monotonous actress who always plays the same kind of characters. Sharing her experience, the actress said that producers used to put her in a box while offering her roles. Talking about rejecting those roles, Meher said, “I said, ‘I don’t want to do this. I have not come here to play any particular kind of role. I want to see myself in strong characters.’ It is a personal choice that I don’t want to see women in weak roles.”
