The story of the film revolves around a female boxer named Ran. She fights against the school bullies. She also participates in illegal bouts. Ran is a professional boxer. And can fight against anyone in the ring.
Ran’s sister gets kidnapped by a criminal gang. Ran finds out every detail about the criminal gang. She finds their location and all the security arrangements they have to secure themselves. It would be risky for someone to break into their location.
Ran is ready to risk her life to save her sister from the grip of criminals. She breaks into the underworld location. She uses a brass knuckleduster as her weapon to fight against the criminals of the underworld. Will she save her sister by using the art of boxing?
The lead role in the movie is played by a Japanese female actor, Miyoshi Iyaka. She is famous for her performance in the 2010 released film Confession. She also stars in the thriller film Alice in Borderland. Miyoshi Iyaka took six months of fight training for the role of Ran.
The film is directed by a Korean director, Chang. The debut film of director Chang, The Target, was screened at the Midnight Screening Section of Cannes in 2014.
The script of the film is written by Yoo Gap Yeol. He also wrote the screenplay for the movie Emergency Declaration, which also debuted at Cannes in 2021. Along with Yoo Gap Yeol, Jeong Byeong Sik is also contributing to the screenplay. Jeong Byeong Sik is famous for writing the screenplay for the movie The Villain.
The plot of the crime action Korean film is inspired by the webtoon ‘Knuckle Girl‘. The webtoon was created by Jeong Sang Young. It was first published in 2014 on the webtoon platform KakaoPage.
Kakao Entertainment is the owner of KakaoPage. And the production of the film is done by Kross Pictures, which is a unit of Kakao Entertainment.
Knuckle Girl is the first live-action adaptation of a webcomic. And this is the first joint venture between Amazon Studios and a Japanese-Korean collaboration.
