Kajol said- it will keep breaking its records every year
Hindi cinema’s romantic drama film ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ is one of the historical films. Recently it completed 29 years of its release. The lead actress of the film Kajol says that ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ is a phenomenon in Indian cinema and its success is because of the fans, who through their love have made it the longest running film in the world. This romantic blockbuster film of 1995 is still being shown in Mumbai’s Maratha Mandir theatre after so many years.
Reminiscing about the film, Kajol said that the film still feels real and relevant today. She said, “It is the longest running film in the world right now and it will keep breaking records every year. But I think the best thing about DDLJ and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and all these films is that when you watch them, they still feel real.
The actress further said, ‘You like these characters and you love them. I really liked the story. I was completely immersed in this film. I enjoyed the film. I loved its music and everything related to it. It is an experience. ‘DDLJ’ is an event and I think we definitely made the film, but we did not know that this was going to happen with the film and we did not make it with this purpose.
Kajol said fans have kept the film relevant. The actress said, “They have been watching it for so many years and have made it a tradition in their families. I met a guy who told me, ‘I took my girlfriend to see the film 27 times and then I proposed to her.’ I said, ‘See, you bored her with the film and that’s why she said yes’, but he went to watch the film with her again and eventually they had kids and he took his kids to see the film too.”
Talking about Kajol‘s work front, she will be seen in “Do Patti”, which is set to premiere on Netflix on October 25.
