Junaid Khan revealed: “Papa was very keen that I do the film.”

Aamir Khan‘s son Junaid Khan recently made his acting debut in the Netflix film Maharaj. In a recent interview, Junaid Khan disclosed that he auditioned for Laal Singh Chaddha. “I auditioned for Laal Singh Chaddha, which Papa had mentioned publicly, but it did not work out. Junaid told, “Papa (Aamir Khan) was very keen that I do the film.”

When asked about the character he auditioned for, Maharaj director Sidharth P Malhotra said that it was for the protagonist, Laal Singh Chaddha. “Adi (Aditya Chopra) and I witnessed a fantastic audition. It was excellent, and if that clip could be released at some point in time, it would be fantastic.”
Junaid Khan, who has received plaudits for his performance in his first film Maharaj, recently explained what inspired him to play Karsandas Mulji in the film.

In an interview, Junaid Khan remarked on his inspiration from Karsandas Mulji’s story, stating, “He was a real person who in 1862 was talking about things that are still happening now. It occurs in modern civilization. And it occurs in every community. And at the time, he was fighting over it. When we didn’t have as much knowledge. So I found the character and the tale incredibly inspiring. That man had a lot of understanding back then.”

When asked what drew him to the script, the Maharaj actor replied, “I have been auditioning since 2017. When Sidharth P Malhotra approached me about working on the film, I liked the story. I loved the script when it was read to me, and I was confident that Siddharth P Malhotra would make such a delicate picture appropriately.”

Maharaj delves into the important 1862 Maharaj Libel Case, a watershed moment in Indian legal history, with a focus on the renowned social reformer Karsandas Mulji. Sidharth P Malhotra directs the film, which is produced by Yash Raj Films (YRF) Entertainment. Jaideep Ahlawat and Shalini Pandey also star, with Sharvari making a special appearance.
