Korean drama Squid Game was the most popular web series of 2021. The thrill-filled series was liked by people all over the world. But do you know that this series is a copy of the 2009 Bollywood film Luck? It is not us but the film’s director Soham Shah who is saying this.
Recently, Soham Shah has filed a lawsuit against OTT platform Netflix alleging that Squid Game is a copy of his film Luck. According to TMZ, the lawsuit documents state that Squid Game which became the most-watched series on Netflix when it premiered in 2021 is a copy of the Imran Khan, Shruti Haasan and Sanjay Dutt starrer.
Soham’s lawsuit against Netflix :
In the documents, Soham Shah has also claimed that he wrote the story of the film around 2006 and the film was released in July 2009. While Squid Game’s writer Hwang Dong Hyuk has said in many interviews that he got the idea of making this series in 2008. Now Netflix has reacted to Soham’s allegations.
Netflix reacted :
A Netflix spokesperson issued a statement rejecting Soham Shah‘s claim. He says there is no truth in this claim. The spokesperson said, “There is no substance to this claim. Squid Game was created and written by Hwang Dong Hyuk and we intend to vigorously defend this matter.”

Produced, written and directed by Hwang Dong Hyuk, Squid Game is the story of 456 players who are in debt and have to play a game of death to win 45.6 billion won. Its second season is also coming soon. It featured actors like Lee Jung-jae, Park Hae-soo, O Yeong-su, Wi Ha-jun, Jung Ho-yeon, He Sung-tae, Anupam Tripathi and Kim Joo-young in lead roles.
