Latest on Jab We Met Sequel : Imtiaz Ali Reveals the Truth. Imtiaz Ali Shares Insights on Potential Jab We Met Sequel.
Jab We Met Sequel : In the past year, speculation began circulating regarding the potential for Imtiaz Ali to helm a sequel to his blockbuster movie, “Jab We Met” (2007), featuring Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan. Indeed, in June of 2023, Shahid dropped subtle hints during an online chat, suggesting a possible collaboration with Imtiaz, sparking excitement among their fans and prompting speculation about a “Jab We Met” sequel. However, in an exclusive statement to us, the filmmaker categorically denied any veracity to these rumours.

In a recent conversation with , Imtiaz hints that a chance to make a sequel of the film is rather slim. He says, “Why have a sequel to Jab We Met (laughs)? If people want to keep relishing the film, they can keep watching the first one! There has to be a story and a reason to make Jab We Met 2. But let’s see if it happens. Never say never!”
In 2020, he directed “Love Aaj Kal” featuring Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan, serving as a follow-up to his 2009 film led by Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone. However, the latter failed to resonate with audiences, resulting in disappointing box office returns.

When asked if this influenced his reluctance to undertake a sequel to “Jab We Met,” he responded., “I made Love Aaj Kal the second time and people didn’t love it that much (laughs). Just kidding! That’s not the reason why I don’t want to make a sequel to Jab We Met. But unless there’s a really passionate reason to make a sequel, one shouldn’t.”

Nevertheless, he hastens to mention his eagerness for a reunion with Kareena following “Jab We Met.” Shedding light on the delay in this anticipated collaboration, the director of “Rockstar” and “Tamasha” elaborates., “Whenever you work with an actor, there’s also a responsibility to not do anything just for the sake of it. The idea is to reunite only when there’s a better or a completely different project compared to what you’ve done before.”
Jab We Met made for such a fruitful collaboration that Imtiaz wouldn’t want that experience to be ruined by taking a middling script to her just to keep their association continued. “Kareena and I are so fond of working with each other but we’ve never had the chance to work again till date because there was nothing different and unique enough or better than what we’ve done before,” he opines.

Imtiaz, presently basking in the immense success of his recent film “Amar Singh Chamkila,” goes on to add.“It has to be something interesting, otherwise, it’s useless. We don’t want to dull the memory of Jab We Met. If you’ve had a great experience working with an actor, the next experience should also be good, otherwise there’s no point. I look at it that way.”
