This particular event was held in Appomattox, Virginia at the Babcock House, about four miles southwest of the rebuilt McLean Surrender House, on the National Park Service property. Prior to this evening’s performance, Freedom Films (a subsidiary of Confederate Pictures) was invited to make a film of the dress rehearsal, before the room filled with spectators from the FEI. This dress rehearsal was filmed for the sole use of Confederate Pictures as Freedom Films. Freedom Films is not a part of the FEI presentation, other than this being taken from an event that they host, and underwrite, as a live performance. This film has been embellished with scenes from the actual rebuilt McLean house, the surrender parlor, and other footage of Dave Palmer and Tony Daniels from other events which Confederate Pictures has filmed in the past. Battle scenes from Cedar Creek and the 140th Appomattox reenactment marches, including the 2005 stacking of the arms, and scenes from the April 9, 2009 stacking at Appomattox… as well as Lee and Grant on their actual horses (Lee rides his own horse, as does Grant… Lee has an accurate whitish-gray ‘Traveller’ and Grant rides his tan ‘Cincinnati’ horse, both generals in the company of their adjutants and chiefs of staff… )… and a shot of a soldier with his period ‘parole slip’ and him being fed period food (fatback, bread, and dessicated vegetable wafers) at Appomattox.
