The Primitive Bow & Arrow

The McPherson series of instructional materials on primitive outdoor skills (Naked Into The Wilderness) have gained the reputation of being some of the best in the country – in fact, the world. This video is no exception. During this almost two hour presentation you are shown first the physics behind what makes a bow work and then John takes you step by step from fresh cut log to finished bow. Every stage is explained in the detail that the beginner needs to know in order to make him/her self capable of making a bow. And not forgetting the most important part – the Arrow – John again illustrates in great detail the steps in turning a wild dogwood shaft into a dowel like arrow. This is just one of the skills that the McPherson’s include in their instruction to the U.S. Military Special Operations Survival Instructors in their on-going relationship with them.
