The Fifth Door

Mins :
Five teenage girls enter a shared dream at a sleepover by means of a “dream circle” and find themselves in an abandoned house where another girl disappeared years earlier. When only four of the girls awake they are convinced that the spirit of the missing girl is holding their friend captive. Only one girl has the faith to enter the fifth door so that the others can go free. Is her fate somehow tied to a silver cross and the story of Lazarus? The Fifth Door is a re-telling of the Biblical story of the resurrection of Lazarus (John 11:1-44) using the format of a modern day murder mystery. The plot develops around a group of five teenage girls who gather at a sleepover and try to enter a dream world together by means of a “dream circle”. It the dream world they think they are encountering the spirit of a teenage girl who was murdered fifteen years earlier. They think that the deceased girl is giving them clues to help solve the mystery of her disappearance. Upon awakening, the five girls realize that only four of them are able to reawaken. They try the dream circle again and the same thing happens. They become convinced that the girl in the dream is holding one of them captive. Finally one of the girls volunteers to stay in the dream world so that the others can escape. In an attempt to revive her, the others take her unconscious body to the abandoned house which was the site of the missing girl’s disappearance. As they drag the body inside, her cross necklace falls to the ground outside the house. The next morning, an old man walking his dog finds the cross and takes it to the police. A police investigation ensues, resulting in the discovery of the dead girl’s body hidden in the basement and the arrest of her father for the murder. The missing fifth teenager reappears at the sleepover to the surprise of her friends, completing the Lazarus story.
