The American Civil War – Disc One

The American Civil War – as told in the re-enactment films of all the Confederate Pictures years that we were on the circuit; from 2004 to 2008. These films were the focus of our travels, from Fort Sumter in South Carolina to Appomattox in Southern Virginia. Some of this footage in this four DVD series has never been seen before. This is Disc One of that series. This is a different kind of Civil War film series. When Confederate Pictures was following the reenactments several years ago, the purpose was to get ‘fight footage’ for our documentaries and motion pictures. There were no reenactment films being made at that time. But when a number of re-enactors wanted to see these dailies made into their own films, as living scrapbooks for those re-enactors who had attended, we obliged them with nearly fifty films in the four years that we were on the circuit. All are available from Amazon. These re-enactment movies in this way are very different. Quite unlike our documentaries and motion pictures, these films are exactly how the war would have been to live it. How the re-enactors actually did live it, for that day and for that event. These four reenactment DVD compilations are not like the usual re-enactment films we release, showcasing a single event… instead, these four films in sequence cover the entire Civil War fight footage that we were able to obtain as well as some living history play-acting mixed in. It is as if a war correspondent had covered these battles in the war, like Viet Nam was covered. Keep in mind that the battlefield footage is not rehearsed; and while we did rehearse the living historian scenes, no one ever worked with us to get this fight footage filmed, nor is most of it even ‘official’ footage of any event shown. We got it on the run, with guerilla-style filming and spur of the moment shots. We were like camera snipers, getting angles where we could get them and then going with that scene.
