Not withstanding the rivalry between established country music star Rayna Jaymes and teen queen Juliette Barnes, fans of the show are equally passionate about the supporting players.This William S. Paley Television Festival live event honors “Nashville,” the drama series about country music star Rayna Jaymes as she struggles with both her fading career and turbulent personal life.Debra Birnbaum (editor-in-chief, TV Guide Magazine) moderates the following panelists: series creator/executive producer Callie Khouri; executive producer Dee Johnson; and cast members Connie Britton (Rayna Jaymes), Hayden Panettiere (Juliette Barnes), Charles Esten (Deacon Claybourne), Jonathan Jackson (Avery Barkley), Clare Bowen (Scarlett O’Connor), and Sam Palladio (Gunnar Scott).The panelists touch on such topics as: the musical contributions by Khouri’s husband T-Bone Burnett and his influence on the show’s narrative style; the cast’s varying reactions to the show’s musical requirements; and Panettiere’s theories on why her character isn’t a villainess.Questions from the audience then lead to a discussion of the following topics among others: the visual effects used to portray large crowds during concert scenes; how shooting in Nashville affects the show’s authenticity; and feedback from the real-world country music community.
