Live In Concert: Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan – Sitar

Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan live in concert at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, on May 7th 2011. Shahid is considered the leading sitarist in the present generation. A lineage that goes back 7 generations and includes luminaries such as Ustad Imdad Khan, Ustad Enayat Khan and the legendary Ustad Vilayat Khan. He is accompanied on the tabla by Enayet Hossain, a tabla player who has numerous cd releases to his credit. Enayet has accompanied all the top Indian musicians including Ustad Vilayat Khan, Shujaat Khan, Budhaditya Mukherjee, Pandit Jasraj and Salamat Ali Khan to name a few. He is the creater of Sangeetpedia, a critically successful multimedia encyclopedia of Indian music. Shahid plays a full alaap, jod and jhala in raga Bihag. He then moves on to play a gat in Vilambit teental and then plays several different gats in Drut teental.
