For almost 60 years, Lake Ontario has been under lockdown – surrounded, controlled and managed more than any other large lake in human history. It is the most human controlled lake on the planet. Its water levels have been managed to the exact inch to provide for stable water lanes for shipping and for hydro power. Its shore lines have been changed and its natural marshes and beaches altered.
