Gettysburg Battlewalks – Benning’s Brigade

The Pennsylvania Cable Network and the Gettysburg National Military Park have partnered since 1996 to bring television viewers the stories of the epic battle.A veteran wrote in his journal of the aftermath, “Where lines stood for a few moments, was marked as distinctively by the line of dead, as it ever was by the line of living.” Another survivor recalled, “Silence reigned that night, except the wails of the maimed which rose dismally in the gloom of darkness.” These grim accounts help Gettysburg National Military Park Ranger John Heiser make his point about the sacrifices made by this lesser known brigade of Georgians.
