The visionary Jacob Bhme (1575-1624) is an exceptional figure and escapes typical historical categorizations. While his contemporaries Galilei, Francis Bacon or Descartes contributed to the foundations of modern science and rationalist thinking, Bhme, a shoemaker from Grlitz, authored the most significant writings of German mysticism, resisting censorship and persecution.
