This is an instructional video. This will teach you the basics of flintknapping, the foundation of which is percussion flaking. One half of this two hour video is spent “in the classroom” learning John’s comprehension of the physics behind flake removal. The 2nd hour is spent; 1- removing flakes making a core and, 2- making a bifacial preform. Flake by flake, unravel the secrets. The McPhersons are internationally know as experts in the field of primitive technology. Featured most recently on National Public Radio, Voice of America TV, Kansas Public Television and the History Channel, they are currently involved in an ongoing program teaching these skills to Instructors of the U.S. Military Special Operations SERE Survival School.
