Hadrian tried to “consign to oblivion” the Jewish and Christian holy sites of Jerusalem. The tomb of Jesus was buried under a pagan temple. In 325 Constantine ordered the temple destroyed and men to search for the tomb. Contrary to expectations, the tomb was found and identified.
