Doona! tells the story of a young woman named Lee Doona. Doona is a member of a famous K-pop group. Doona is the main vocalist of the group. She is the most popular member of group and she is at the peak of her career. Doona makes a surprising move in her career. Suddenly, she decided to retire from her singing profession.
Donna decides to lead a simple life like any other common girl. She starts living in a shared house near a college university. She had lived her life like a famous celebrity. She had cherished all the luxuries of life in the past. Now she is living an ordinary life with no luxuries. She is trying to learn about the various aspects of a simple life.
Lee Won Jun is a university student. He is a final seems studen who leads a simple life. He is a warm hearted person. He starts living in the same shared house building where Doona lives. He doesn’t have any idea about Doona once bringing a K-pop idol.
Their first meetings went very badly. Doona suspects Won Jun to be her stalker and accuses him of following her. Later, she discovers that Won Jun is innocent and that he has no interest in her. She feels guilty and tries to develop good relationships with him.
They start to spend time together. They ties to know each other. They both share their personal difficulties with each other. Won Jun learns that Doona has lived a lavish life as a K-pop idol, and she has never faced the life of a common man. With time they developed a mutual attraction for each other.
Situations take opposite turns. Now Doona has to reconsider her decision to be a K-pop idol again. And Won Jun has to search for a stable job for him. He also faces problems when his past lover meets him at the university.
What will be Doona’s decision for being a K-pop idol? Will Won Jun get a stable career? Will they support each other in difficult situations?
Actors Bae Suzy and Yang Se-jong are playing lead roles in the series, with various other actors in supporting roles.
The kdrama series is inspired by the novel The Girl Downstairs, written by Min Song-ah.
