The upcoming ‘Indian 2’ is a sequel to the 1996 film ‘Indian’ featuring Kamal Haasan, Kajal Aggarwal and Rakul Preet Singh.
Kamal Haasan and Shankar are promoting Indian 2 actively. They are doing everything possible to bring the vigilante action thriller to the audience’s attention. After significant Hindi promotions, the team is currently focused on Telugu promotions. A pre-release event and a press conference with Telugu media were held recently.
A rumour has circulated that Kamal Haasan will have reduced screen time in Indian 2, but will appear prominently in the third installment. During the Telugu press conference, the team was asked the same question. Kamal Haasan responded, “Nothing is more important than the entire film.” A director thinks about the entire film. The length is completely irrelevant. If I play a character like Senapathy, I can’t ask my director to include a duet for me.”
The movie’s director Shankar responded: “The rumour is completely false. Kamal Haasan will appear throughout the flick. Even in moments where he does not appear, there would be talk about Kamal Haasan sir’s character. The entire movie will concentrate around him. “Do not believe the rumours about his screen time.”
In the film’s prequel, Kamal Haasan portrays Senapathy and Chandru, a father and son. The film tells the story of a liberation soldier who becomes a vigilante in order to eliminate corruption in India. The ending of Indian left room for a sequel.
Kamal Haasan will reprise his role as Senapathy in Indian 2, however it is unclear what roles Kajal Aggarwal, Siddharth, and Rakul Preet Singh would have. The film will be released in Hindi and all other south Indian languages on July 12. The film will be titled Hindustani 2 in Hindi and Bharateeyudu 2 in Telugu.
