Viral Video: Do you eat humans?’ Indian YouTuber met cannibals

Video gone viral

Korowai Tribe: If you come to know that there is a tribe in the dense forests that likes to eat human flesh, would you like to go there? Obviously, you would say that only a crazy person would make such a mistake. But an Indian YouTuber named Dheeraj Meena recently met such a cannibal tribe living in Indonesia and shared the exciting experience of his unique journey on social media.

Here we are talking about the Korowai tribe, which lives in the forests of Indonesia’s Papua province. Travel vlogger Meena’s experience shows the traditional lifestyle of the Korowai, their tree houses and their daily activities.

The Korowai people were historically known for cannibalism. However, from vlogger Meena’s conversation, it became clear that this practice has now ended. A member of the tribe told the vlogger that no such behavior has been observed for the last 16 years. It used to happen only during tribal conflicts.

He said that during tribal conflicts, the Korowai used to kill and eat their rivals. Especially those who captured women. However, this practice is no longer a part of their culture. He described the Korowai people as warm and welcoming and spent several days with them to learn about their culture and customs.

The vlogger also asked the Korowai what human flesh tastes like? The tribe members could not tell, but the vlogger quoted anthropologists to tell people that human flesh tastes somewhat like pork or beef. He explained how the culture and lifestyle of these people has now changed due to increased contact with the outside world. The tribe now mainly makes its living through hunting, food gathering and fishing.

He said, Korowai live in very remote areas and follow a traditional lifestyle. They still live without clothes. Men and women of the tribe live in separate houses. He told that Korowai build their homes on trees very high above the ground. To reach the tribe, the vlogger traveled by air, traveled by boat for 10 hours, then traveled for four hours on foot through dense forests.
