Alejandra Rodríguez made history as the first woman of her age to achieve this title
Most women in their 60s think of retiring and dedicating their free time to their grandchildren. However, a 60-year-old lawyer is breaking such stereotypes by walking the Miss Universe ramp as the winner of this year’s coveted title for the province of Buenos Aires.

Alejandra said that, “I am thrilled to be representing this new paradigm in beauty pageants because we are inaugurating a new stage in which women are not only physical beauty but another set of values,” she said, according to AP. “I am the first of this generation to start with this.”
In a first, a 60-year-old lawyer scripted history after she won the Miss Universe Buenos Aires beauty pageant. Alejandra Rodríguez contested with 34 others, ranging in age from 18 to 73, to win the title.

She is a lawyer and a journalist from La Plata. After finishing school, she chose journalism as her profession, reported New York Post. Later, she studied law and became a legal advisor for a hospital. She has shattered stereotypes and marked a monumental shift in beauty pageants.
Alejandra believed she had long aged out of the worldwide beauty pageant, but her opinion changed when the rules changed in 2023.

In 1952, Miss Universe contestants’ ages were required to fall into the strict range of 18 to 28 years, a New York Post report mentioned. They were required to be single with no children. However, last year, the pageant ruled that women between the ages of 18 and 73 were allowed to participate in the competition regardless of any other factor.
