Ajay Devgn’s sports biopic, Maidaan, on the renowned football coach Syed Abdul Rahim, will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
Ajay Devgn, Priyamani, and Gajraj Rao appear in the epic sports biographical drama Maidaan, which can be streamed rent-free on Amazon Prime Video starting on June 5.
Two months following its April 10 theatrical premiere, Maidaan is now available digitally. The national award-winning director Amit Sharma is working with producers Zee Studios, Boney Kapoor, Arunava Joy Sengupta, and Akash Chawla. With the description, “Groundbreaking story of India’s finest hour in football,” the official X account of Amazon Prime Video revealed the OTT debut.
Even though the film had trouble drawing viewers to the theatres, critics praised it. IMDB gives it an 8.2 out of 10. The OTT release provides viewers with an opportunity to relive what they missed in cinemas.
Maidaan captures the triumphant moments of the Indian football team during coach Syed Abdul Rahim‘s tenure, which spanned from 1952 to 1962. The Indian football squad had great success during this period, striving to establish a national identity and win international acclaim.
With the team based in a freshly independent India, the coach had to overcome obstacles to field a competitive squad ready to compete on the world football scene. Following the Indian team’s triumphant performance at the Asian Games in 1962, headed by Syed Abdul Rahim, the sport has not achieved international recognition for Indian football.
