Munjya Fame Abhay Verma elaborated: “I was in the process of The Archies but I really wanted to do Safed”

Abhay Verma, who is well-known for his role in the horror comedy Munjya, recently claimed on a podcast that he auditioned for Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies but chose to pass over the film Safed. He stated on the Digital Commentary podcast that “The Archies and Safed were happening at the same time. I choose Safed over The Archies. I was in the middle of The Archies, but I really wanted to do Safed.”

The actor said, “I had auditioned for The Archies and met Zoya. But, because I got Safed, I chose the latter.” Suhana Khan, Agastya Nanda, and Khushi Kapoor made their major debuts with The Archies last year. It was released on the streaming service Netflix.

In the film Safed, Abhay Verma played a transsexual character. Sandeep Singh directs and produces Safed. It features Meera Chopra, Abhay Verma, Barkha Bisht, and Jameel Khan.

Abhay Verma also revealed that he was set to star in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film Gangubai Kathiawadi. He stated: “I wish I could have done the picture, but I had another assignment at the moment. However, a few days after I was unable to complete Gangubai Kathiawadi, I met Alia (Bhatt) for a brand shot. I just met Sanjay Leela Bhansali sir for Gangubai Kathiawadi.”

Abhay Verma recalls meeting Varun Dhawan during Munjya’s triumph celebration. Sharing Varun’s enthusiasm for the project, he stated, “Varun is a gentleman and very supportive.” He told me that, of all the actors in this generation, he wants me to work the hardest because he feels I can make a difference. He held me and said such things in a way that made me feel like I belonged to a family.” Varun Dhawan starred in Bhediya, another Dinesh Vijan horror comedy.

Abhay Verma made his film debut as a junior artist in Hrithik Roshan’s Super 30. He appears in films such as Safed and Ae Watan Mere Watan. He appeared in several online programmes, including Little Things, The Family Man, and Marzi.
