“Community: Cast & Creators Live at PALEYFEST 2014”

Boasting a crack ensemble cast led by Joel McHale as wisecracking Jeff Winger, “Community” follows the misadventures of a quirky group of students at Greendale Community College, an institute of less than higher learning. The show features a beguiling universe of lovable misfits who sneak right into your squishy sentimental heart while bandying snarky dialogue and fomenting gleeful absurdity.This William S. Paley Television Festival live event celebrates “Community,” the comedy series about a group of adult students at a small community college in Colorado. Todd VanDerWerff (writer, The AV Club) moderates the following panelists: series creator/executive producer Dan Harmon; executive producers Russ Krasnoff, Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, and Garrett Donovan; and cast members Jim Rash (Dean Pelton), Joel McHale (Jeff Winger), Danny Pudi (Abed Nadir), Gillian Jacobs (Britta Perry), Ken Jeong (Ben Chang), Chevy Chase (Pierce Hawthorne), and Yvette Nicole Brown (Shirley Bennett).The panelists touch on such topics as: the thought process behind the show’s thematic episodes; McHale’s enjoyment of beating up Chase on-screen; and the “malleable” nature of all the characters.Questions from the audience then lead to a discussion of the following topics among others: Harmon’s comic inspirations when growing up; cast member Donald Glover’s memorable on-set improvisations; and how the cast and crew’s affinity for social media has affected the show.
