Toronto Raptors vs Golden State Warriors (6/13/2019)
The Toronto Raptors captured the first major title for Canada in 26 years and dethroned the depleted two-time defending champion Golden State Warriors with a remarkable 114-110 road victory. The thrilling back-and-forth game featured 18 lead changes, nine ties and neither team going ahead by more than nine points. In the final frenzied seconds, Stephen Curry missed a contested 3-pointer and an excess timeout technical foul on the Warriors enabled Toronto to close the game out with free throws. Kawhi Leonard was crowned the NBA Finals MVP and reached the historic achievement of becoming the first player in NBA history to win MVP with both an Eastern and Western Conference team (San Antonio Spurs). Nick Nurse also made history as the first ever NBA head coach to lead an NBA and NBA G League team to a championship.
