A behind the scenes tour of the Solomon Steelpans facility.A steelpan is a percussion instrument that when struck produces a musical tone. Putting a groove between specific areas of the steelpan was the original method for isolating the different notes available to the musician. Phil Solomon takes credit for the “Grooveless Method,” and other manufacturing innovations, that he says make his steelpans stand out.
