After three releases dedicated to La Scala, this video production describes another beloved and well-known Italian operatic venue: the Arena of Verona, capable of hosting more than 20,000 spectators and endowed with acoustics that are, in their own way, quite extraordinary. In this documentary, originally filmed in 16 mm., the Italian journalist Enzo Biagi interviews the famous singers, directors and conductors who appeared at the Arena at the beginning of the 1980s: Sherrill Millnes, Rajna Kabaiwanska, Fiorenza Cossotto, Mirella Freni, Rolando Panerai, Oliviero De Fabritiis, Nicola Martinucci, the director Giancarlo Sbragia and the set designer Giulio Coltellacci. This production also features excerps from those years performances of Rigoletto, Aida, Traviata and Nabucco.
