“Psych” celebrates the twentieth anniversary of the premiere of “Twin Peaks,” the groundbreaking ABC crime drama from David Lynch and Mark Frost. This live event features “Psych” lead actors, James Roday and Dule Hill, and “Twin Peaks” alumni. This Paley Center for Media live event is a tribute to the cult television series “Twin Peaks” via “Psych,” the comedy/mystery series about a man whose acute observational skills convince others that he has psychic powers, allowing him to run a “psychic detective agency” in Santa Barbara with his best friend from childhood.Craig Tomashoff (executive editor, TV Guide Magazine) moderates the following panelists: “Psych” cast members James Roday (Shawn Spencer), Timothy Omundson (Carlton Lassiter), Maggie Lawson (Juliet O’Hara), Corbin Bernsen (Henry Spencer), and Dule Hill (Burton “Gus” Guster); and “Twin Peaks” veterans Lenny von Dohlen (Harold Smith), Catherine E. Coulson (The Log Lady), Robyn Lively (Lana Budding Milford), Ray Wise (Leland Palmer), and Sheryl Lee (Laura Palmer). The panelists touch on such topics as: Roday’s views on the impact of “Twin Peaks” on television; the origins of the “Psych” tribute episode (“Dual Spires”), co-written by Roday; and the reactions of “Twin Peaks” cast members to the “Dual Spires” concept.Questions from the audience lead to a discussion of the following topics among others: why Roday began writing television scripts; if spinoffs for “Twin Peaks” are in the works; and the popularity of “Twin Peaks” in Japan.
