The 145th Chancellorsville

Mins :
Some reenactments are for the individual reenactors, themselves; not grand spectacles, but small, unscripted affairs which seem incredibly real when they are in progress. Think of an episode of COMBAT! Much happens, and not all at once. We drift from encounter to encounter, and witness the confusion and fear of deep woods combat, where everything echoes with uncertainty. Spectators never get to witness these events, but now, they will get to see this one… Bill Raymond held a number of these reenactments on his 300 acre property in Loudoun Heights, Virginia. Confederate Pictures was the official videographer at his final two events; the 2007 event, known as the 145th Antietam, and the 2008 event, the 145th Chancellorsville. No spectators. Deep woods fighting. Strangely close and ‘immediate’ for a Civil War battle; this is the rarely-seen ‘skirmish’ as it surely must have been fought.
