Tip of The Spear

The US Army 11th Armored Division was part of Patton’s Third Army, leading the way across Europe, to LInz, Austria. Sgt. R.S. Buch uses U.S. Signal Corpes photos to tell the story. The 11th AD helped to crush the Nazi War Machine. From Dec. 15, 1944 to May 9, 1945, the 11th moved from Batogne, to Belgium, to Linz and Amstetin Austria. In that period their unit became “The Tip of The Spear” taking the battle to the heart of Nazi Germany. About 1000 soldiers of the 11th were KIA. Buch’s talk is followed by 4 ‘home movie’ films he made while in the Army. One depicts scenes at the Mauthousen Concentration Camp after liberation.
