On April 29, 2005, over 800 people gathered in a tent at Shawan Downs to celebrate the history of American involvement at the Aintree Grand National. A panel consisting of noted author and former jockey Dick Francis, Grand National winners from the U.S. Tommoy Smith and Charlie Fenwick, and former jockey and current trainer Paddy Neilson was emceed by BBC commentator Richard Pitman.
