Seabed Ecosystems/Open Sea Ecosystems

Program 1: Life exists in the depths of the ocean, all the way to the seafloor. Explore common features of ocean floors, as well as the mysterious, little-known biomes in three regional seabeds: the Mediterranean, the cold Atlantic, and the equatorial Molucca Sea of Indonesia. Each reveals a rich biodiversity of strange, sometimes alien-like communities of life, all adapted to their varied environments. Program 2: The open oceans and seas are the largest, least populated, and least known ecosystem on Earth. They cover over 70% of Earth’s surface, yet are a desert in terms of biodiversity. Creatures found in this region are often migrants, moving from feeding to breeding sites.
