Eating disorders are about addiction – be it addiction to starvation or to food. It’s an addiction affecting more than 15 million people in North America today. Seven years ago, Felicia, weighing 86 lbs., lay in a hospital bed in Rome with tubes in her arms. They told her she was dying of anorexia. Sixteen years ago, Leslie was bulimic. Food and the toilet were her best friends. While clutching a bottle of pills, she thought suicide was her only escape. These two filmmakers recovered. But sadly, they are among the few that do. Eating disorders have the highest mortality rate of any other psychological disease. It was through perseverance and determination they are alive to tell their stories today.
