Navy Heroes of Normandy

On June 6, 1944, more than 52,000 American sailors arrived off the coast in Normandy, France. Their mission, Operation Neptune-Overlord, would become the largest amphibious and landing assault operation of World War II. Yet no monument honored their sacrifices.
