Shekhar Suman shared his profound grief over the tragic passing of an 11-year-old boy, likening the loss to the end of himself.
For any parent, nothing can be worse than the grief of losing their child, expressed actor Shekhar Suman. His son Ayush passed away at the age of 11. He lost his life due to a heart related illness. In a recent interview, Shekhar spoke openly about this difficult period in his life. Shekhar Suman worked with big actresses like Rekha, Juhi Chawla, Dimple Kapadia, Padmini Kolhapure in his career. But as soon as he came to know about the illness of his son, the down time in his career started.
“During that down period in my career, nothing was going well. That was where the struggle began and when I learned of my son’s terminal illness in 1989, things took a turn for the worse. It was the end of my career, it was the end of me. I thought my life, family and everything was coming to an end. Sitting next to my son, I kept thinking that one day he will leave me alone”, expressed Shekhar Suman.
He added, “We have been crying for many years to lose our son. He was given eight months, but he lived only four months. It was the most difficult time of our life. I have seen a lot in my life but I always have a feeling of gratitude towards God. I am forever indebted to the people who helped me during that time. No matter what happens, life goes on. For any parent, losing their son or daughter is the greatest sorrow in the world.”
Speaking about the son in an interview, Shekhar Suman said, “When I lost my eleven-year-old son, my life was completely destroyed. I had no will to live. I had lost a part of my heart, which was very dear to me. I was crying on the ground. After the death of my son, I had nothing to do with anything. There was no interest left in working in films and earning money. I was lifeless. I was working to drive the family car, but I had no will to live.”
Shekhar Suman has played an important role in the web series ‘Heeramandi‘ directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. A Netflix series has been released in which his son Adhyayan Suman also plays an important role.
