Aamir Khan’s alleged romance with Kiran during “Lagaan” production was the reason behind his separation from Reena?
On April 18, 1986, Aamir Khan wed Reena Dutta for the first time. Together, they had two children, Junaid and Ira. There were no public arguments during their amicable 2002 divorce.
Aamir Khan later wed Kiran Rao on December 28, 2005, and the two of them had a son named Azad via surrogacy. On July 3, 2021 Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao who had been married for 15 years, announced their divorce.
Strong rumours circulated that Aamir’s alleged romance with Kiran during “Lagaan” production was the reason behind his separation from Reena. But Kiran emphasised in a recent interview that they didn’t really start dating while “Lagaan” was being filmed—rather, they did so in 2004.

In a recent interview, Kiran disclosed that they didn’t communicate much while filming “Lagaan.” A few years later, while working with Ashutosh Gowariker on ads, they got back in touch. Their romance didn’t start while “Lagaan” was being filmed, but rather after it was released.
“Everyone believed that when Aamir and I started dating in 2004, it was because we were filming Lagaan that we got divorced, which is not true,” Kiran stated to the news website.
Aamir and Reena’s falling out was also blamed on rumours of his supposed love involvement with actresses like Pooja Bhatt and model-turned-british journalist Jessica Hines. The real cause, though, is still unknown, and Aamir has never revealed it. Both Reena and Kiran are still friendly with Aamir Khan even after their split.
