The Dark Side of Daren

Maximilian Moll is a German filmmaker who is romantically involved with an American actor named Daren. Daren, however, has developed a severe problem with drugs, which has stalled his career and ruined his finances. Concerned with the health of his lover and angry over his inability to get him to give up drugs, Moll begins documenting Daren’s slide into addiction with his video camera, and The Dark Side of Daren is drawn from Moll’s footage of Daren as he struggles with his personal, medical, and financial problems while continuing his grim dalliance with drugs. The Dark Side of Daren was shown at the 2001 Berlin Film Festival.
