Robert Downey Jr., an American actor who is 58 years old, has accomplished a noteworthy professional milestone by taking home his first Oscar. He received this recognition for his powerful performance as J. Robert Oppenheimer‘s adversary Lewis Strauss in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer movie.
Jimmy Kimmel hosted the 96th Academy Awards once again, and the event took place at the esteemed Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles a few hours ago. Robert Downey Jr. won Best Supporting Actor amid all the glitz and glamour for his superb performance in Oppenheimer. He came onto the platform, collected the medal with grace, and gave a moving acceptance speech.
He made a funny joke in his speech, saying, “I’d like to thank the Academy and my terrible childhood, in that order.” He smiled and said, “I’d like to thank my veterinarian, I mean wife, Susan Downey over there.” He was joking. She resurrected her love for me after finding me as a snarling rescue pet. I am here for that reason. I’m grateful.
With a heartfelt “Here’s my little secret,” gratitude was given to the entire Oppenheimer cast and crew. This job was more for me than it was for me. Chris was aware of it. Carrying his prize, he descended to the ground and gave his three kids a sincere high five.
Robert had already won the Golden Globe and Critics’ Choice Awards for the same part, so his victory at the Oscars adds to his already formidable collection. After three decades and three Oscar nominations, this win is a significant turning point in his career.
